Position overview:

With our expanding client base and growing project needs, CWA is looking for a qualified individual to fill the position of Project Manager.

In this role, you will take ownership and responsibility for projects and lead a multidisciplinary team to see projects to completion. Responsibilities include planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, closing of projects; leading and preparing proposals; reviewing reports and memorandums; preparing design documentation; and liaising with clients and contractors. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and characteristics:

Duties and responsibilities:

This position will involve the following:

  • Managing projects including multi-disciplined engineering teams, project controls, document control and other disciplines as projects may require.
  • Engaging directly with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Planning for project start-up, budget, schedule, and project status reporting.
  • Implementing effective change management systems.
  • Forecasting potential challenges throughout the execution of projects and develop plans and actions to address such issues.
  • Monitoring the progress and performance of the project scope and taking actions where necessary to control engineering work within the budget and schedule.
  • Facilitating effective communications between relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to conduct formal presentations.
  • Reporting to senior management.

Who you are:

  • 10-15 years of project management experience, including managing, coordinating, and implementing multi-discipline engineering projects.
  • 10-15 years of mining and/or bulk materials handling experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline, and a registered professional with EGBC.
  • Ability to lead, train and mentor a team of engineers and designers.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants.
  • Ability to evaluate, prioritize and plan over the short and long terms.
  • Ability to apply problem solving skills to resolve issues on a contextual basis.
  • Ability to understand and execute project scope and deliver within the designated budget and schedule.
  • Strong risk-management skills and timely communication thereof.
  • Pro-active and solutions oriented.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
  • A valid BC driver’s license.
